This blog intends to be a topical look, time permitting, at what is going in our world. Specifically how the flame of freedom, liberty and privacy is being snuffed out by the massed forces of evil totalitarianism, sometimes blatantly, often covertly.

Whatever your political hue, if you believe in freedom, liberty and getting the "government boot" off your throat then we urge you to get the conversation going with your friends, family & colleagues. It is up to us and us alone. We either learn about our freedoms and exercise our freedoms or lose them forever.

DEMAND REAL MARRIAGE EQUALITY

In light of the recent supreme court decision and indeed the global push to recognize homosexual unions The Jimnasium blog has decided to get solidy behind the push for real Marriage Equality.

We therefore call on all our readers to demand that the globe ends the blatant polyphobia which manifests in discrimination and hatred toward people who live in, or wish to be part of, a polygamous relationship.

We are ashamed that in the 21st century people in polygamous relationships feel that society does not value them and treats them as second class citizens simply because of the relationship they choose to belong to or the choices they wish to make. The ability of polygamists to form stable, loving relationships with which to raise a happy family environment is unquestioned. Why then must the state continue to practice intolerance? It is time for society to get on the right side of history and accept the inevitable removal of all societal reflections of intolerance

We demand that the same benefits enjoyed by couples who are married to one other person be expanded to include those with multiple spouses. In addition to marital recognition we demand that our schools, colleges, media and government institutions recognize and appreciate the huge contribution made by people in polygamous relationships to society generally and even in our armed forces.

We feel there is so much more than needs to be done before true marriage equality is achieved and thanks to the opening up of the definition of marriage from the centuries old and cross cultural definition of one man/one woman we can finally take the next step toward ending the institutionalized polyphobic bigotry that exists in our society.

The world can no longer deny that "Love is Love", however it manifests itself and if we wish to be a society that embraces our freedoms as we claim to be then we need not be restrictive about the fundamental rights of people who wish to marry whoever they want.
